• Rinse the razor with water after shaving.

Expert Advice:

• Don’t shave at night because your face is more sensitive at that time (it can hurt more), and it’s not as relaxed as in the morning, making it easier to nick your skin.

• Shave before breakfast. The chewing action during your meal increases blood flow to your jaw, around your mouth, and around your eyes, making shaving after breakfast more prone to bleeding.

• Wash your face thoroughly with warm water before shaving to both disinfect your face and open your pores, making it easier for the razor to glide smoothly.

• Whether you shave with a razor or an electric shaver depends on personal preference, but the razor blade must be sharp and clean. Don’t forget, a clean face is more important than getting rid of the beard.

• Always shave in the direction of your hair growth.

• After shaving, rinse your face with cold water to help tighten pores and soothe the skin.

• Apply aftershave (with alcohol) to disinfect the skin, but avoid ones with too much alcohol as it can cause irritation and dry out your skin.
